Lovie Lee Smith (born (1958-05-08)May 8, 1958) is the former head coach of the Chicago Bears professional football team of the NFL. Smith has been to the Super Bowl twice, as the defensive coordinator for the 2001 St. Louis Rams and as the head coach for the Chicago Bears in 2006. The Bears fired Smith on December 31, 2012 when the team failed to reach the playoffs after achieving a 7-1 record at the season's halfway point.
