Some defensive lapses and a bad-bounce interception doomed the New York Giants on Sunday, as they took an inexcusable loss to the Seattle Seahawks at home, 36-25.The Seahawks took a late 4th quarter lead on a 27-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst to Doug Baldwin when cornerback Aaron Ross more or less gave up on the play, thinking that it was going to be blown dead because of an offsides call on Osi Umenyiora.
But the Giants had a chance to take the lead on a late drive after that, moving the ball down inside the Seahawks 10-yard line with plenty of time to spare, but Eli Manning’s pass went off the hand of Victor Cruz and into the arms of Brandon Browner, who returned it 94 yards for a game-clinching interception. Cruz appeared to stumble on his cut, which threw off the timing of the play, and his attempt to make a one-handed catch to make up for it proved to the be the death knell for the Giants, who fall to 3-2 on the season with a tough matchup in Buffalo next week against the 4-1 Bills.
