Up until the final two and a half minutes of Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots, the Cowboys defense had played their hearts out, picking off Tom Brady twice and holding the high-powered Pats offense to 13 points. But when the Dallas offense went three-and-out and gave Brady that much time plus a timeout to drive for the winning touchdown, the defense failed to make one last stand. The bracket defense that the Cowboys had employed so effectively suddenly vanished as the Pats quickly and methodically marched down the field, winning the game on a touchdown pass to tight end Aaron Hernandez.
