Big Ten removing Joe Paterno's name from championship trophy

Former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno, after losing his job last week, now suffers the embarrassment of having his name taken off of the Big Ten championship trophy, as the conference announced on Monday. Originally called the Stagg-Paterno Championship Trophy after Paterno and Hall of Fame coach Amos Alonzo Stagg, it will now just be called the Stagg Championship Trophy.

Paterno, the winningest coach in major college football, was to be part of the trophy with Amos Alonzo Stagg.
