    • Through the first 18 games of the season, Carolina Hurricanes center Eric Staal has endured the worst start of his career, tallying just four goals and 4 assists and posting a -17. Some have speculated that it’s due to the distraction of his brother Marc Staal being sidelined with a concussion as the result of a hit from Eric last February, but whatever the reason, head coach Paul Maurice has decided that it’s time for a change. So when the Hurricanes take on the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, Staal will shift from center to wing.

    The move, in addition to just providing a change of pace, will likely serve to simplify Staal’s game, as he will have less of a responsibility to play defense and set up his teammates, allowing him to focus on putting the puck in the net.
