The Chicago Bears blank The Miami Dolphins to get 700th career win

<p>In a playoff type atmosphere in South Florida, the Bears improved to (7-3) on the season after an impressive win against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network.&nbsp; The Dolphins, to be fair, didn&rsquo;t have much of a chance considering they were forced to start their third string QB Tyler Thigpen, who is 1-10 as a career starter.&nbsp; Impressive huh?&nbsp; They also lost star WR Brandon Marshall&nbsp;to a hamstring injury in the second quarter, and their injury ridden offensive line was in shambles against the mighty Bears defense.</p>
<p>Both teams played great defense early, with the only score being a Robbie Gould FG late in the first quarter which gave the Bears an early 3-0 lead.&nbsp; The Bears were in the middle of an impressive drive after a good return from one of the best returners in NFL history Devin Hester, but the drive stalled abruptly when Cameron Wake (formerly Derek Wake from Penn State) sacked Jay Cutler, causing him to fumble on third down.&nbsp; Luckily, the Bears were able to recover the ball, enabling Gould, the former Nittany Lion as well(sorry, had to throw that in there) to nail the 46 yarder.</p>
<p>Cutler kept an early 2nd quarter drive alive when he scampered for 16 yards on a third and 15 and paved the way for yet another Robbie Gould FG, this one from 24 yards. Gould came through again when he hit a 50 yd FG early in the third quarter which gave the Bears a 9-0 lead.&nbsp; This is one thing that has to concern the Bears moving forward is the struggles they had tonight getting into the end zone.&nbsp; But with Miami&rsquo;s offense struggling, it didn&rsquo;t matter much tonight.&nbsp; That will change as the season rolls on and the playoff races start taking shape.</p>
<p>The Bears put the game away late in the third when the Bears finally found the end zone when Matt Forte ran it in on third and goal and a 16-0 lead.&nbsp; What sticks out to me the most is the job Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz did tonight in terms of the running game. At the time of the touchdown run by Forte, it was his 19th carry. Cutler at the time had only 21 pass attempts.&nbsp; Sound like a Martz offense to you?&nbsp; I didn&rsquo;t think so.&nbsp; You really have to give the mad scientist credit for the way he committed to the run and dominated the time of possession.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So, where do the Bears go from here?&nbsp; With the win tonight, they take over the first place seed in the NFC North, at least for the next few days. The Packers are on the road in Minnesota facing Brett Favre for the final (we think) time, so that lead may be temporary.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Bears will have a nice weekend of rest and preparation for next week&rsquo;s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles.&nbsp; Seeing how well Michael Vick and the Eagles looked against the Redskins, the Bears are going to have their hands full. Lovie Smith&rsquo;s job seems to be safe for yet another week, and why shouldn&rsquo;t it be?&nbsp; He has his team on the verge of a possible division championship and the third playoff appearance in seven seasons at the helm.&nbsp; I could name you plenty of teams who would want a coach with that track record. Lastly, with the Bears win tonight, it was their 700th career win as a franchise.</p>
<p>Final Score:&nbsp; Bears 16&nbsp; Dolphins 0</p>
