Eagles' coaching staff overhaul has begun

The Philadelphia Eagles overhaul of their coaching staff has already begun with the dismissal of secondary coach Johnnie Lynn, and it’s only going to get more hectic. The next move will likely be the replacement of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo, and the likely successor is former Eagles assistant and Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo. Spags left the Eagles in 2007 to take over as defensive coordinator for the Giants, where he spent two seasons and won a Super Bowl before moving on to take over the Rams’ job in 2009.

After getting fired by the Rams, however, Spagnuolo became the immediate frontrunner to take over the Eagles job, which could happen when Andy Reid gets back from vacation next week. Castillo has not yet been relieved of his duties, but that’s likely because Reid wants to reassign him to another position on the coaching staff rather than firing him outright.
