Could the Blackhawks Trade Patrick Kane, and If So, Where To?
-
Peter Hahn February 22nd
trading Kane would be a HUGE mistake.

The Detroit Pistons know that the only way to draw consistently large crowds is to play better basketball. A dismal 4-15 start has not given Detroit fans much reason to show any interest in their basketball team so far this season. However, Wednesday night’s game against the Miami Heat was a step in the right direction. Despite their 101-98 loss, the Pistons gave the Heat all they could handle and had even mustered a three-point lead with 1:33 left to play.
Given that all the other Detroit teams have enjoyed recent success, the Pistons have not been more than an afterthought in recent years. The Red Wings have been one of the NHL’s best teams over the past decade and are leading the league in points heading into the All-Star break. The Lions made the playoffs this season for the first time since 1999 and have a promising future. The Tigers won their division last season and have made headlines with the recent acquisition of Prince Fielder, one of baseball’s best hitters.
If the Pistons want to draw large crowds in the competitive Detroit sports market, they simply need to be more competitive. They need promising young players like center Greg Monroe and point guard Brandon Knight to step up. Monroe has elevated his game in his second season and his averaging about 15 points and 9 rebounds per game, and his impressive 20 point, 3 steal performance against the Heat indicates that he may have a ways to go before he reaches his full potential. Knight has played well in his rookie season and has showed some impressive flashes, but he needs to play more efficiently to help his team win, as his PER of 11.29 ranks a terrible 47th among NBA point guards.
With the Lions and Tigers in their offseason and the Red Wings at the All-Star break, Friday's home game against a good Atlanta Hawks team is the perfect opportunity for the Pistons prove to fans that there is still a reason to come see them play.
