Everyone knows scoring is way down this season due to the lockout and the lack of preparation time it wrought. Teams are averaging five fewer points per 100 possessions in comparison to last season, an even bigger drop than most of us expected.

Could the Blackhawks Trade Patrick Kane, and If So, Where To?
-
Peter Hahn February 22nd
trading Kane would be a HUGE mistake.

When everyone realized that the NBA would play 66 games in a season that would begin at Christmas after an extended layover of five months due to the lockout, basketball fans began bracing for the worst. As the season has progressed, the injuries have racked up, with stars such as Luol Deng, Rajon Rondo, and Dwyane Wade having missed games. Unheralded players such as Norris Cole and Ivan Johnson have emerged and received playing time. Games have been turnover-riddled messes.
So it should come as no surprise that 71 players are currently shooting under 40% from the field with over 200 minutes of playing time. Last year, there were only 27 players, a ridiculous disparity. This bad shooting hasn’t discriminated based on position either; point guards such as Isaiah Thomas and centers such as Marcus Camby are all shooting below 40%. The league’s two worst shooters are Jason Kidd at 28% and DeShawn Stevenson at 26%, perhaps an indication of a championship hangover (for Stevenson, this is quite literal).
