RED SOX WILL GO OUT FOR HIM.

Daisuke Matsuzaka’s recovery is progressing, as he threw 21 pitches at Boston’s Spring Training facility on Tuesday. Matsuzaka underwent Tommy John surgery last June and missed the majority of the 2011 season. Widely regarded as a disappointment, Matsuzaka has not lived up the $103m it took to bring him to the states in 2007.
The expected return of the Japanese hurler this upcoming season gives the Red Sox a potential steady arm in the bullpen, or even a fourth or fifth starter option going forward. Many pitchers have come back strong from Tommy John surgery, and by all accounts Matsuzaka’s procedure went well. If he can return to his 2008 form, when he went 18-8 and posted a 2.90 ERA, he would be a welcome addition to a Red Sox pitching staff that struggled greatly at the end of last season.
