  • <p>Just 14 months ago, Twins catcher Joe Mauer was Minnesota&rsquo;s favorite son. After growing up and playing his high school baseball in St. Paul, Mauer inked an eight-year contract extension to stay with the Twins until 2018, much to the delight of his home state. However, 2011 has been a rough year for Mauer, who hasn&rsquo;t seen the diamond since April 12<sup>th</sup>. <a href=“http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/121677159.html”>And his lack of playing time is resonating with the fans</a> according to Patrick Reusse of the <em>Star Tribue</em>, claiming that the Twins losing record coupled with Mauer&rsquo;s absence is hurting the player&rsquo;s public image. &nbsp;</p>
