RED SOX WILL GO OUT FOR HIM.

Former All-Pro wide receiver Randy Moss announced in a webchat on Monday that he wants to make an NFL comeback in 2012, after sitting out all of last season. Moss was last seen in the NFL at the end of the 2010 campaign in a Tennessee Titans uniform, but announced that was retiring at the beginning of August after not receiving much interest from other teams. But now that he wants to suit up again, which teams might be interested in taking a flier on the 35-year-old future Hall of Famer?
Moss’s mercurial nature and questionable throughout his career — along with the obvious rust that he’ll have accumulated from not playing over the past year — means that teams are going to be naturally wary of bringing him in. He would be a best served by being on a team with an established quarterback who won’t be pressured into getting him the ball, and one that is already a playoff contender and just needs one additional receiver to help push them over the edge. He’s not a number one guy anymore, but could be a great benefit to a team that could use a vertical threat to occupy the safeties.
So who fits that bill? The Houston Texans could be the ideal fit, as they suffered mightily when Andre Johnson was hurt this year. The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears also fit that bill. San Francisco could be an interesting option with a coach in Jim Harbaugh who can keep him in line, but there could be some frosty locker room meetings if Alex Smith can’t deliver him the ball downfield on a consistent basis.
