Scottish Club Rangers enters bankrupcy, loses 10 points

Scottish Champions Rangers FC have fallen on tough times, and now face a 10-point deduction as a 50 to 75 million pound strife with the British Tax authorities has left the team in financial turmoil and needing to enter administration.

The Glasgow club appointed London firm Duff and Phelps as administrators at 2:50 GMT.

Rangers won last year’s Scottish Premier League title in dramatic fashion, besting bitter rivals Celtic FC by one point. Rangers now trail Celtic by 11 points, and appear to be in no shape to challenge the team for the SPL crown. Last weekend, they fell out of the Scottish FA Cup, losing 2-0 to Dundee United in Glasgow. They started the season vibrantly, building a large lead over their Glasgow rivals Celtic, helped by a 4-2 victory at home ground Ibrox Road. Celtic has since won the reversed fixture, a 1-0 win at Celtic park.

The team recently sold SPL leading striker Nikica Jelavi? to Everton FC. Until then, he had played with American internationals Maurice Edu, Alejandro Bedoya, and Carlos Bocanegra.

Rangers Football Club has entered administration – meaning it has been docked 10 points, effectively ending its Scottish Premier League challenge.
