RED SOX WILL GO OUT FOR HIM.

The New York Yankees didn’t make any huge splashes this offseason with major free agent acquisitions, but the reigning division champions did make moves to improve their roster and keep them in World Series contention. Their boldest move was to trade highly touted prospect Jesus Montero for Michael Pineda. Pineda is a young pitcher that can immediately improve the Yankees rotation. The signing of Hiroki Kuroda will also add depth to their pitching staff.
Now the Yankees have turned their attention to improving their lineup. They believe that aging veterans Eric Chavez and Raul Ibanez can help them win. Chavez was a good platoon player for the Yankees last season and resigning him makes sense. Ibanez is 39, but should still have enough left in the tank to be a solid part-time option at DH and the outfield. These aren’t exciting acquisitions by any stretch, but the Yankees had the second best offense in baseball last season. They don’t need to make drastic changes. Now that Alex Rodriguez is healthy their offense should pick up where it left off.
