When will Daniel Briere get going?

The Philadelphia Flyers have gotten off on the right foot this month by winning their first three games, thanks in large part to at least a brief turnaround by goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. But one man they haven’t been getting much help from is center Daniel Briere, who is in the middle of the second-worst goal scoring slump of his career.

Briere hasn’t lit the lamp since scoring a hat trick against Ottawa on January 7, and has just 13 goals on the season. At that pace, he would register just 19 goals and 31 assists all year, which would be his lowest totals since the 2002-03 season with Phoenix. It’s a disappointing drop-off from his career-high of 34 goals last year, and with other Philadelphia forwards like Jaromir Jagr and Jakub Voracek nursing injuries, they could really use Briere to snap out of his slump.

Philly has already been passed by the red-hot Penguins in the Atlantic Division standings, and if the season ended today would be matched up against that same Pittsburgh team in the first round of the playoffs as the 4-5 matchup.

Danny hasn’t scored since his hat trick against Ottawa on Jan. 7.
