Isles make trade with Bruins

Despite the trade deadline being over the Islanders and the Bruins made a minor league transaction which sent former second round pick Yury Alexandrov to New York in exchange for future considerations.

The 23 year old defenseman appeared in 66 games for the AHL Providence Bruins last year, but elected to play back home in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League this season.

Because the deadline has passed, Alexandrov is not playoff eligible this season.

The trade deadline has passed — meaning no player acquired past February 27 is playoff-eligible — but the Islanders made a minor move Tuesday to acquire defenseman Yury Alexandrov from Boston in exchange for future considerations.
