Report: Patriots LT Matt Light set to retire

The “New England Patriots”: will be shopping for a new left tackle for the 2012 season after being told by Matt Light that he will be retiring after an 11-year career. Light has been a starter on the left side of the offensive line since his rookie season in 2001 when the Pats won their first Super Bowl, and has been a three-time Pro Bowler over the course of his tenure with New England.

Look for the Pats to address the vacancy by moving second year tackle Nate Solder from the right side to the left, and then supplementing their depth at the position in draft next week.

Matt Light’s post Super Bowl dance party will wind up being his going away party. The 11-year veteran is stepping away from the game.
