Unlike the NL MVP race, the AL competition features two clear frontrunners that are simply outclassing the rest of the league. One is a cagey veteran with a wealth of experience and the other is a feel-good story featuring an all-around extraordinary statistical output. But while Paul Konerko and Josh Hamilton may lead the pack, there are still other candidates in the mix that are plenty capable of closing the gap and entering the discussion.
