Not surprisingly, the Nashville Predators are ready to part ways with the very talented but maddeningly frustrating Alexander Radulov when he becomes a restricted free agent on July 1. Since Nashville still owns his rights, GM David Poile said that he will try to trade those rights to another team if Radulov wants to remain in North America, or simply return to the KHL.
It’s been a rocky tenure for Radulov in Nashville. After being drafted 15th overall by the team in 2004 and playing most of two seasons with them from 2006-08, he violated his contract by jetting to Russia to play with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League. In four seasons in the KHL, he became the league’s all-time career and single-season scorer, before suddenly returning to the Preds for the end of this past season when the KHL season was complete. However, his infamous curfew incident with teammate Andrei Kostitsyn during the team’s second round loss to Phoenix led to a two-game playoff suspension and the effective end of his time with the organization.
