On Thursday, the New England Patriots singed free agent tight end Bo Scaife to what is now becoming an overly crowded tight end corps. Scaife, 31, played six seasons in Tennessee with his best season coming in 2008 when he hauled in 58 receptions for 561 yards and two touchdowns. With Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Daniel Fells, and rookie Brad Herman already in the fold, plus no real fullback on the roster, there is some speculation that perhaps Scaife could act in H-back role as similar to that of Aaron Hernandez, as he also is good in the open field.
According to Adam Schefter the Patriots have also been shopping Chad Ochocinco, and will release him this afternoon. Needless to say, the boisterious receiver’s tenure in New England was disappointing to say the least. He never quite was able to grasp the offense, putting up podestrian stats of 15/276/1. His cap hit of $4.6 million could free up the Pats to make a move after the Aug 1 cuts if they choose to add more depth at running back or in their defensive backfield.
