Learning to settle with second-rate fights

Just hours after he turned down a 10-year contract extension with the Penguins, center Jordan Staal was traded to the Hurricanes in exchange for center Brandon Sutter, defense prospect Brian Dumoulin, and the 8th overall pick in the draft, which was used to select defenseman Derrick Pouliot.
It’s a pretty good haul for Pittsburgh given that their leverage was seriously hurt when the knowledge of his contract decline went public. Sutter is a fantastic defensive center who can play against any top line in the NHL, Dumoulin is a very well-regarded prospect as a two-way defenseman, and though many fans were unhappy with the selection of Pouliot that high, he has tremendous offensive upside.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes get a dynamic two-way center and reunite two of the best brothers in the NHL, with Eric Staal already firmly entrenched there as their captain and franchise player. They also have the youngest Staal brother, Jordan, in the AHL.
