NHL Trade Round-Up and Implications

The July 1 free agent signing deadline in the NHL always provides entertainment across the league, and that surely won’t change next weekend when two of the best players in the league will likely hit the open market. But what will make Sunday so intriguing is the fallout of what happened over this past weekend at the NHL draft in Pittsburgh.

I talked about the potential for trades prior to the draft, and we surely weren’t disappointed. There are several takeaways from the moves that were made this weekend that hint at what is to come as free agency approaches. As we look at what it all means, these are some of the major deals that were struck during the two-day draft.
