Further adding to the speculation that the Texas Rangers are big players in the Zack Greinke sweepstakes, Colby Lewis has been placed on the 15-day DL with forearm tendinitis. Lewis, who was the Rangers’ Opening Day starter, is 6-6 with a 3.51 ERA (a number inflated by his recent 8 ER outing against Colorado on Saturday). His spot in the rotation will, for the time being, be filled by AAA prospect Martin Perez.
Forearm trouble is always worrisome for pitchers, and if Lewis’ injury borders on serious it would likely make the Rangers all but a lock in acquiring the Brewers’ ace Zack Greinke.
