NHL still waiting for the Suter and Parise dominoes to fall

Depsite several signings in the first day of NHL free agency on Sunday, the two biggest pieces are still left on the board — defenseman Ryan Suter and winger Zach Parise. Both players are 27 years old and ready to enter the prime of their careers, and so they have already received multiple offers that they’re currently considering. Among those teams are the Flyers, who CSN has reported have already offered 10-year deals to both players, though if one accepts they will likely rescind the other as they can’t afford both.

The two stars are the best players on the market this offseason and so many teams have build their free agency agendas around them, so once they both decide where to spend the next phase of their careers then we’re likely to see a flurry of activity as the rest of the players are snatched up as teams’ Plan Bs.

Parise’s agent has said that he expects to make his decision later on Monday, while Suter will likely wait until later in the week. It should also be noted that while neither player chose to accept their current team’s extension offers, nor have they ruled out a return.

Ryan Suter and Zach Parise chose to take time to sort through offers from a slew of suitors on the first day of NHL free agency.
