Report: Devils re-sign Salvador for three years

Bryce Salvador became the latest to cash in on the inflated market for NHL defenseman, inking a three-year $9.5 million contract to stay with the reigning Eastern Conference champion Devils. Salvador has always been a traditional stay-at-home defenseman who can be a second-pairing guy, having never topped 16 points in a season and registering no goals and 9 assists while playing all 82 regular season games last year. However, he exploded with 4 goals and 10 assists in the playoffs — outscoring his offensive-minded defense partner Marek Zidlicky — which likely helped him get a few extra dollars in his contract negotiation.

It appears as though New Jersey Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello has re-signed his highest-scoring defenseman from the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs — Bryce Salvador.
