Buchholz rehab solid, set to return Saturday

After missing the last three weeks with an intestinal bleed that sent him to both the hospital and the disabled list, Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz appears ready to return to the Sox rotation with a 43-pitch minor league start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday.

Buchholz got off to horrendous start to the season, sporting an ERA of 9.09 after six starts, but rebounded with a great stretch of four starts at the end of May and into June in which he allowed just five runs in 31 innings. His last start before going on the DL was not good, but if he’s able to get back his form from the first half of June, he will stabilize the Sox rotation and give them a fighting chance at one of the AL Wild Card spots in the second half.
