When Hakeem Nicks broke his foot during Giants OTAs in May, the initial diagnosis was that the surgery and rehab would keep him out for up to three months, jeopardizing his ability to get on the field for training camp. And though Nicks insisted that he would beat the timetable and be ready to go when camp opened, the Giants kicked things off on Thursday with their No. 1 receiver not even close to returning. Tom Coughlin said that Nicks has just started running on a treadmill in a pool, which means that he’s still several weeks from getting back on the field, making that initial three-month diagnosis look pretty accurate.
Joining him on the camp Physically Unable to Perform list are defensive tackle Chris Canty (knee surgery), tight end Travis Beckum (torn ACL) and linebacker Clint Sintim (torn ACL).
