Report: Seahawks to sign Braylon Edwards

The Seattle Seahawks have further bolstered their wide receiving corps by adding the former San Fransisco 49ers wideout Braylon Edwards for a small contract. After having a solid 2010 season in which he reeled in 904 yards with the New York Jets, an injury-plagued Edwards backtracked in 2011, recording only 181 receiving yards and being waived just before the playoffs by San Fransisco. Edwards underwent knee surgery this summer.

This is a low risk, high reward move for the Seahawks. The Braylon Edwards of 2010 was an excellent physical receiver with deep threat ability and above-average blocking skills. If he can return to form, Edwards would be a great compliment to the speedy Sidney Rice and a big target for whomever wins the Matt Flynn-Tavaris Jackson-Russell Wilson QB competition.

Edwards faces competition at the #2 spot from the veterans Antonio Bryant and Ben Obamanu, and second year player Golden Tate.
