The Olympic Track Viewing Guide

In many ways, the desire to beat your acquaintance in a foot race, or to jump higher and farther than someone else, represents human competition in its most basic form. I think that’s why Track and Field, while often forgotten between Olympic competitions, is one of the most popular events to watch at the games. It’s raw competition.

London 2012 features a multitude of interesting storylines to be played out on the track: Usain Bolt looks to repeat as double Olympic champion, something that has never been done before; 800m world record holder, David Rudisha, seeks the ultimate crown; American hurdler Lolo Jones seeks redemption from her Beijing spill; the women’s 200m dash is as loaded as it’s ever been. Here’s a preview of who and what to watch for in the upcoming events on the track.
