Jeff Demps is having a busy summer. After winning a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, the former Florida running back signed a representative deal and is hoping to be picked up by an NFL team.
The New England Patriots are in need of a kick returner and may find Demps to be a cheap, yet productive option. Greg Schiano, coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has also expressed interest in the 22-year-old. The team could use his speed and agility for kick returns, as current option Preston Parker has been disappointing during preseason.
The Oakland Raiders are in desperate need of depth at the running back position and could also have interest. Demps was a major part in Florida’s third National Title season as he ran 78 times for 605 yards and 7 touchdowns. With his proven speed, Demps could be a hidden gem for any team looking for cheap help.
