Dwayne Bowe back with Chiefs after signing franchise tender

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe who has led the team in receiving yards each of the past two seasons with an average of 1,160, has re-joined the team after holding out for all of training camp. Bowe was hit with the franchise tag this offseason, guaranteeing him a one-year salary of $9.5 million, but was looking for a long-term deal that ultimately never came.

Bowe will go right back to the top of the depth chart despite missing all of the three-week camp, but given the futility that this holdout ultimately provided, it can only hurt him in the long run. He didn’t get the contract that he wanted, and given the propensity that we’ve seen in the past for players who hold out to eventually suffer injuries during the year from lack of conditioning, there’s a very good chance that he won’t see this type of payday again next year.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that WR Dwayne Bowe has signed his franchise tender.
