The Tennessee Titans decided on Monday that one year of learning from the bench behind starter Matt Hasselbeck was enough for Jake Locker, as they announced that the 2010 first round draft pick would be their Week 1 starter against New England instead of the veteran journeyman. The motivation behind the moves seems simple. Though it’s hard to say that Locker has outplayed Hasselbeck last year or during the preseason, the Titans realize that their chances of making the playoffs are slim regardless of who they have under center, and so it makes little sense to delay Locker’s development any more than they have to.
