Minnesota Twins DH Jim Thome was stuck on 598 career home runs for a week and half, but drilled two home runs on Monday night in a 9-6 win over the Detroit Tigers to reach the illustrious .500 mark. Thome also had 5 RBI win, and received a standing ovation from the hometown Detroit fans after hitting the historic shot.
Thome is the eighth player to reach the 600 home run plateau, and the fourth since Barry Bonds did it in 2002.
